The fast river

As I fall into the fast river,

I wonder why it rushes so,

But never when it will end,

Nor how swift its currents flow.

It felt the same, yet faster still,

The river’s pace I couldn’t see,

A never-ending journey,

But I had to yield to its decree.

I wanted to cry out for help,

But the river silenced me,

Hoped for a long, enduring ride,

But the river raced relentlessly.

The sky grew dark, and now I see,

The end is drawing near,

How quickly I’ve arrived here,

Facing the deep, dark ocean with fear.

Now, I drown, with no one to save me,

Sinking deep, wondering what lies there,

Something untold,

I guess I'll know when the darkness unfolds.
